Rumor Mill: Could Kyle Hetrick Return?

Written by Josh Smith

Kyle Hetrick. It's a name synonymous with the league itself. He helped found the league in 2012 after not playing for five years. Hetrick participated in the 2005 and 2006 seasons with his team, the Blue Dragons, prior to graduating high school and joining the Air Force where he spend a great deal of time on an base in New Jersey. Once Hetrick returned home he learned that Josh Smith and Greg Sowards were starting up a new league in Huntington and wanted in and Beaver Fever was born. Hetrick aided Sowards in getting their team to number two in the rankings and hit a huge home run in the 2012 championship that would ultimately win the game.

However, in 2013 Hetrick did not nearly play as big of a role in the league. He changed careers and missed about half the season. He penned only one article the entire year for his Inside The Game column and did not participate in the last few weeks of the season or the playoffs. Many considered Hetrick out of the game for good but lately there are rumors circulating that Hetrick could be making a return...and with a new team.

It's no secret that the league is attempting to fill in the now vacant 10th spot in the league. News has spread far and wide through our contacts as we search high and low for a way to fill that spot. Hetrick mentioned he would like to attempt to start a new team early in the off-season but nothing ever came of it. But rumor has it that Hetrick still would like to make good on his offer but he has no reliable teammates. Perhaps if some free agents were available we could fill that 10th spot after all. Hetrick would be a valuable captain. He has 4 seasons of experience in the sport and has been on terrible teams and great teams. In 2005-06 his team finished in last place both seasons. In 2012 Beaver Fever won the league championship and last season his team finished in the middle of the pack and lost to the Holy Balls in the semifinals.

His work schedule is said to be much more flexible for Tuesday evenings which would cure the problem he had last season with attendance. So if all this is true then it all comes down to can we find enough free agents to fill this 10th spot?
