Well it's all come down to this! Playoff season is finally here. Tomorrow we will begin our annual quest to find out who is the best team in the league. Breaking Balls are the heavy favorite but there are other teams who are more than wrothy of the trophy and are capable of doing just that. The next two weeks will no doubt feature some of the best playing all year and I'm anxiously awaiting to see how it all unfolds. But whatever happens, next week we will be crowning a champion.
So for those of you unfamiliar with how this works are if this is your first season, allow me to explain the setup this year. It's very simple. The playoffs is a single elimination bracket (see above) and is set up according to where each team finished in the regular season standings. For example, the first place team plays the fourth place them from their division. And the second place team plays the third place team. The winners of each game play eachother in the following matchup (which will be the semifinals). The Championship will be held for next week and everyone is encouraged to come out and watch. We will most likely be grilling out and partying like we did for the All-Star Game.
The playoffs come at a busy time of the year as the commissioners, coaches, and captains work tirelessly to prepare the the NWLA Tournament. Also, players will be filling out brief exit surveys on the field prior to the start of the 6:00 first round games. These surveys provide the commissioners with valuable feedback on what went well this season and where there are improvements to be made. It's a tedioius task, I know, but it's incredibly important so help us find out what we need to do so we can start planning for next year. But I want to take this moment to thank all of the teams, captains, and players for their cooperation and participation in this year's season. Without the involvement of all of you this all is just an idea - so thank you for your dedication to make this idea into something great. I hope to see some, if not all of you, for our fall ball season this October. And I definitely hope to see you all and many newcomers next season. This season has been the best one yet and I hope you're still willing to commit a little longer to make it even better next season.
