Power RAYnkings: Week 5

RAYNKINGS.png

Last week my predictions were correct. Breaking Balls and SOMB split to give each other their first loss of the season, and this was Breaking Balls first regular season loss ever! Huntington Wifflers were MIA and forfeited…again, to Black Sheep. Chicken and Wiffles were like the North in taking care of the Southern Wifflin’ Dixie! And the PWT’s just couldn’t catch a break with roster attendance and had Jeremy Litton fill in for them for their losses to the Asthmatics.

PWT VS Breaking Balls

PWT are desperate for a win and they and are the only team this year without one. They have had to face 4 tough teams that all have played before and for the 5th week in a row they have to play a really good team. They may need to recruit more help to stop this from being a massacre! Henry Rowengartner may be what this team needs to help, but that still wouldn’t help. Breaking Balls is just too good. They (Breaking Balls) found their hitting against Jeremy Ray too late last week to suffer their first loss, but turned it on Nick Kappra and mercy ruled SOMB. For the rest of the season I don’t see them losing again, especially with Matt Gordon proving that he can pitch. This series may last an hour (or less)… poor PWT. But the future is looking bright for them! The next 2 series they have are against Wiffln’ Dixie and Huntington Wifflers! So maybe there will be a W in their future, but until then... Sweep for Breaking Balls

Wifflin’ Dixie VS SOMB

Well, this series will be eerily similar to the Breaking Balls and PWT series. Greg Sowards has had very little success against SOMB and with Jacob Dunkle and Andrew Westcott coming back, the outlook isn’t good! It will be up to Big Mike McCoy to lead the offensive charge in this series, but I don’t think it will be enough. SOMB had a hit to their confidence with suffering their first loss. And to make matters worse Nick Kappra is done for the year and moved back home to Maryland, and will be gone for the rest of the season. But don’t count them out yet! They added a good player in Scott Westcott to replace Kappra. He can both pitch and hit which helps for the rotation rule. I don’t think he will be needed to pitch this series though. Hopefully the score won’t get too out of hand. Sweep for SOMB

Chicken and Wiffles VS Huntington Wifflers

Before I start in on this series, will this game even be played? Probably not, they have forfeited more games than they have actually played. But for shits and giggles, I’ll give this one a go. C&W have been swinging for the fences the last 2 series which almost beat SOMB twice! Justin Fairman is finding his groove with his one-handed swing and is sending balls sailing over the fence. If other members want to practice pitching, this series is probably the best one to do it. Hopefully the Wifflers show up so we can get a read on them to better factor them into this predictions. Sweep for Chicken & Wiffles

Asthmatics VS Black Sheep Wiffle

This series is my match up for the week! Good pitching vs good hitting. This will come down to if Paul Hesson and Josiah Chapman can keep the walks to a minimum. Black Sheep are patient at the plate and can get on a roll real quick. Brian Ball will give them fits and so will Steven Adkins. Black Sheeps problem is their pitching. With Adkins having shoulder issues still, his pitching velocity is not even close to what it was last year. And his back up pitchers are slow to medium speed with Brandon Woolum (who has been missing) and Zach Blatt. But they have at least proven to be accurate pitchers. However, the Asthmatics are good on both sides of the dish. All players are good hitters, and as of now they have the best one two punch in pitching (Hesson & Chapman). If they can keep the walks down they will win both but to be safe I’m calling this one a split. Split between Asthmatics and Black Sheep
