Power RAYnkings: Week 3
After the second weekend of play the pack still seems 50-50. There are three dominate teams and three that can be used as stat boosters. But as weekend number two has shown, the bottom three have some fight in them. Luckily this season we won’t have any winless teams or one team that makes this no fun. I’m curious on how this weekend will turn out with a top match up of the top three teams will happen. Last time I had SOMB as the number one for being the undefeated team and Thunderducks as the bottom rung with a team that seemed lost. With two losses to SOMB and Thunderducks getting a win, let’s see where they land on this weeks Raynkings.
#6 OD Bangers
Age… age… age. A new team came in and whipped this team into submission. Everyone can hit, but the team really doesn’t have a medium pitcher. Anthony is still hurt and other players are still rusty from at least a year off. The only thing that is keeping this team afloat, hitting. They are lucky enough to keep adding runs to keep them in games, but if that fails, what can they turn to? Their defense is dismal, and have another tough game against SOMB who can pitch and hit. They need more than offense to get off the bottom.
#5 Thunderducks
Improving. That’s all you can say about this team is improving. They got a win and seems to be adding fire power to the team. Pat Horton showed up in a much needed time for the ducks adding defense and hitting abilities. This team also added a rookie in Aaron Upton. This seemed to be a homerun pick up as he helped TD with a walkoff homerun. Having players in the field helps reduce the runs this team used to give up. Rumors are being put out there that more players are coming in. If these rumors are true, SOMB may not have such an easy road to the division championship.
#4 Top Flight
This team is just getting better. Being a team of mostly rookies, they are showing promise all around. Shawn was a monster at the plate as he just hit bomb after bomb with ease. Eli is still progressing as a medium pitcher and we can soon start seeing his strikeouts go up and his ERA go down. TJ has formed a team that could be an upset in the playoffs. They have tough games this week against Asthmatics and SOMB. So this will tell where they belong and I can for see a win in one of these series.
#3 Asthmatics
Picking the top three this week is extremely hard, but based on schedule strength is why the Asthmatics fall to three. This team is well put together and continue to run up the score on opposing teams. They split with SOMB with both a lopsided win and loss. Cody Brown got a taste of defeat against SOMB that could really shake things up on the rotation. Will they try to bring in another? Paul is still coming in strong with his pitching, which is going to be needed with TF being an up and coming team. The reason this team sits at three, they split with a SOMB team without Brian Ball or Jeremy Ray in attendance.
#2 Sit On My Base
Lucky this team is able to hit, because they seemed lost at the pitching position. Defense was also a question, but as long as BBall and Jeremy show up this team will be strong on two of the three fronts. Andrew Westcott seems to be more of the star pitcher for this team due to its medium style pitching. He gives the team a chance to win by making Jeremy step down and play more of a defensive role. Jeremy wasn’t there until the Mothmen series where he showed much promise of being a defender. SOMB has a weaker schedule this Saturday against ODB and Top Flight so should add 4 more wins this weekend.
#1 Mothmen
This team never seems to be slowing down. Not having most of their players during their series against SOMB hurt them as they split. Wyatt Zuspan seems to be a more number one pitcher of the team as Brice Clark continues to give up more and more runs. Once this squad show up fully, they will seem untouchable. They are leading the league in homeruns and RBIs and will continue to add to this lead, but pitching right now will be the Anthonys heel of this team. They have a supposedly loaded Thunder Ducks team this week, and the Asthmatics. Look for this team to go 3-1 this Saturday.
Matchup of the day: Mothmen @ Asthmatics
